A draft that has now taken over two weeks has me considering that this may be my last year in this league unless the draft is revamped for next season. None the less, I am in it this year, and minus my backup defense and kicker, my team is complete. Here is how I look.
QB:
McNabb - Starter
Garcia -Backup
My thoughts: I got Mcnabb in with the 9th pick in the 6th round. I feel like he can seriously outperform this spot if he remains healthy. Also, my keeper in this league is Westbrook, so I like the link I have with those two. It's worth mentioning here that this league awards 6pt for a TD for all positions. Which adds to McNabbs value and also getting him this late!
Running Backs:
Westbrook - RB1
Portis - RB2
Chris Perry - RB3-4/Flex
Brandon Jacobs - RB3-4/Flex
Fred Taylor - RB5
Jerious Norwood - RB6
Ahman Green - RB7
My thoughts: I am deep deep deep in backs this year! My starting two is solid, and with Jacobs and Perry I have guys that can fill in at RB2, plus provide big numbers from the flex spot. Fred Taylor is going to be trade bate for me as I go after another top tier WR. But if not than hes just insurance. I am thinking Norwood could be a huge sleeper pick and may payoff big for me. Ahman was simply the best guy available at the time. I dont think he will be worth much, but then again hes my number 7 RB, so i'm not looking for much. As add/drops are done every week in this league, he will most likely be my first waiver move once the season starts. I also thought I may be able to throw him into a trade deal purely on his name recognition to nab something better at WR.
WR:
Andre Johnson WR1
Anquan Boldin WR2
Joey Galloway WR3
Donte Stallworth WR4
My thoughts: Not nearly as deep as I would like to be. We start 2, and I personally think my starting 2 can compete with any other team in the league right now. I dont have much depth here, which is why I will try to use Taylor or another combo to get someone else. I am gonna make a push for Calvin Johnson or Brandon Marshall. Not sure if I can get the deal done but we shall see. If it doesnt work out, then Galloway and Stallworth will probably be decent enough to sub.
Tight End:
Kellen Winslow
Got exactly what I wanted for my TE. Nuff said.
Kicker:
David Akers
(backup not selected yet)
My thoughts:
Best available when I finally made the pick in round 14. To my utter shock and disbelief most of the teams already had their BACKUP kickers as well as their starters by the time i made this pick. My feeling is if getting akers instead of someone stronger was my sacrifice for getting all that strength at RB, then so be it.
Defense:
Jacksonville
(backup not selected yet)
My thoughts: I picked up Jax in round 9, when 10 of the 12 teams in the league had already selected a D. Considering that, i was absolutely overjoyed to get them when I did. They aren't a high profile defense but they produce every week, and play the NFC north this year. I dont need huge points here, just consistency, and thats what I will get from the Jags.
So there you have it. let me know what ya think. Hope everyone is enjoying their Labor Day weekend.
