I've been frequenting the board leading up to and after my draft and have sought advice on trades, player situations, rate my team, etc. One thing that I am continually told is that Derek Anderson is a bust. Why does everyone think this? He was fantastic last year and has superb targets to throw to. I have heard some say that Cleveland has a tough schedule, but doesn't that mean they will potentially throw the ball even more? And don't tell me Brady Quinn is going to take over for him (barring injury). That guy wasn't all that good in college and is the classic pump and dump QB that looks downfield, gets freaked out, and then dumps it off to someone 5 yards away. No way he takes the starting job with Anderson just getting paid. So why all the hate for my boy DA?

i personally dont think hes a bad qb, i just think from a fantasy standpoint he is probably getting drafter higher than he is worth. for what one must sacrifice to get him, you could end up with stronger position players and not lose much from another qb in a later round. thats just my two cents.

It's pretty simple really, as acebrando said, he is going sooner than he should. Let me throw some numbers at you. QB A: 7 Games played, 17 TD, 8 INT, 1,740 yards passing. QB B: 9 Games played, 12 TD, 11 INT, 2,000 yards passing. Which QB would you rather have? Obviously QB A, right? And that is what spoiled the fantasy football world last year was his first 7 games. More than a half of his season last year was spent averaging barely more than 1 TD per game while throwing more than one interception! Combined, sure, he had a good year. But you really have to look into numbers more deeply. And although I agree that Cleveland has a good supporting cast, to keep Winslow healthy, Anderson to recover from a concussion and not get banged up, Lewis has to continue to get back to where he once was, Braylon Edwards has to have another stellar season and.... Kind of getting my drift? If you want to draft him as a QB1 that is fine, but in my mind he is not one of the better QB1's out there. -Bruno Boys Ziza www.brunoboys.net

Ziza,
Couldn't have been said better. Great job of breaking down his 2007 season with the facts to back up why we feel his owners are in for a roller coaster ride in 2008. I feel that if he plays all 16 games he is still a top 10 fantasy quarterback, but we could be seeing some big weeks followed up by some terrible weeks.
In my opinion, Anderson is a week to week quarterback, and someone that you should play based on the ideal matchup. Outside of Brady, Manning, Romo, Brees, Palmer and even Big Ben, the rest are probably better used in matchup sitatuions. By doing it this way, you can always maximize your QB points for the most part.
Best of Luck in Week 1,
