this area of the forum has been dead for too long. I know it's the preseason and everybody's all wrapped up in drafting their teams and making preseason trades.
But let's not lose site of what made us fantasy football fans in the first place...besides gambling, and that would be the NFL itself.
I personally cannot wait for the season to start. For those that don't know, I am a huge Bengals fan and I'm hoping we can make a return to the playoffs despite a tough schedule. They resigned Chris Henry so perhaps Odell Thurman is just a week or two away from an appearance on the practice squad (I'm keeping my fingers crossed).
A lot of people are talking about how some teams are guarantees to make the playoffs but I don't buy into that talk because the parity is too great. I see the best teams currently being New England, San Diego, Indianapolis, New Orleans, the New York Giants and the Jacksonville Jaguars.
I could talk forever about this, but I want to hear what you guys think. Who are the elite teams and who are the sleepers? Got any rookie of the year predictions? Is there any way in the world the Dolphins can win more than four games? Let's hear it from you guys.

I'll let Bruno Boys Nation chime in on all of that, but as you are a Cincy fan, I love the Detroit Lions. There are a few things that I really can't wait to see how it develops through the year: -Calvin Johnson: Does he surpass Roy Williams as Lions WR1? -How does Kevin Smith pan out in his rookier year with a newly dedicated approach to the run. -Will Jon Kitna still be a 4,000 yard QB without Mike Martz? -In a weaker NFCN, Can the Lions win the division if they go 9-7 or 10-6? -Bruno Boys Ziza www.brunoboys.net

Calvin Johnson has looked nasty so far but man Roy Williams is good too.
I think for the Lions this year is their best shot in a while. Defense looks liked it may be solidified (finally) and offense can be solid if Smith and Bell can hold their own. Bears will suck, Green Bay will go as their QB does so I suspect they'll be up and down so to be honest the only real challenge I see for Detroit is Minnesota. If Tavaris Jackson starts throwing well, the Vikings could be scary good, but that's a big "if".

BOO bengals!! lol j/k, they just happen to be in the same division as my ravens... I bet we can both agree that we hate the steelers tho haha anyway, im not looking forward to the beginning of the ravens season... the QB derby is getting really old in bmore, and Flacco is not ready to start. On the other hand, i am really excited about our coaching staff, and think it may be one of the best in football! ravens defense will be smashmouth and tough as always, but likely will spend too much time on the field, hurting their fantasy value and making them look worse than they are... I just hope the injury bug bites some other team this year is all... and that flacco takes over after the week 9 bye and gets some real NFL QB time to make him ready for next year...

yeah, everybody hates the Steelers except themselves.
As far as the Ravens QB situation, I'm a big Ohio State fan so I'm rooting for Troy Smith to win the job and put in a solid season. If Flacco starts this season, the Ravens are in trouble. He's got a cannon but he's got a lot of adjusting to do and has looked pretty bad so far in the preseason against second, third and fourth-string defenses.
Nonetheless, I'm interested to see what Harbaugh can do with that team.

I think the Patriots, Chargers, Colts, Cowboys, and Vikings will finish this season with the best records.
My sleeper team is the Buffalo Bills. They have a solid defense and a great running game. If Trent Edwards limits turnovers, I think they will have a good year.
Go Eagles!!! If the Birds get a WR for McNabb (cough cough Boldin), I feel like they can make the playoffs and do some damage. Friday's preseason game against the Brady-less Patriots was encouraging. Desean Jackson looked great.

It's funny reading content like this back from August. All of these people thinking the Detroit Lions are going to turn things around, haha.
We are in Week 5 and they are already 0-3, have fired Matt Millen (finally) and Roy Williams is complaining about how he is just a role player in this offense.
It could be a LONG season for the lowly Lions and their fans... Ziza ::cough:: cough:: Larry ::cough:: cough::

Hey, don't forget us Bengals fans.
We suck equally as much, though we won't fire our coach until the end of the season.
